Happy Thanksgiving! The holiday season is finally here and Crittenton Centers would like to say thank you! We are so thankful for so many of you that supported our 11th annual Festival of Trees "Winter Around the World" themed event from November 21st through November 24th.
We kicked off the festival with our Feliz Navidad themed Jingle and Mingle cocktail party on Thursday, November 21st where we had over 325 guests including weatherman Chuck Collins from 25 News live at our event for the 5 pm and 6 pm news. Guests enjoyed live music from Ellen and Derel Montieth, signature sangria along with two full bars, a Taco-tini bar, a desert tower, a Bremer jewelry raffle, an exclusive for Jingle & Mingle guests only "experiences" silent auction and of course the gorgeously decorated trees, wreaths, and more available for mobile bidding. What a perfect evening for mingling with friends and inspiring your own decorating for the season!
Friday, November 22nd, was all about the seniors. That’s right, Senior Day! On this day, seniors age 55 and up enjoyed special treatment including a coffee and a cookie from Le Bakery. We love watching their faces light up as they were entertained by students from our Child Development Center, our favorite banjo group, and of course bingo! They stayed as long as they wanted thanks to our snack shop having lunch provided by Michaels Italian Feast, Frito lays, and Pepsi co for them to purchase.
As the seniors left on Friday, over 160 scouts came for the Scout Tree Decorating Competition reception from 4-6 pm. Where scouts and their troops had the opportunity to enjoy all the trees including the ones decorated by fellow troops while eating dinner. After the reception, they had a scavenger hunt, a chance to earn badges and awards for decorating! A win-win situation for our scouts.
An exclusive ticketed event happens on Saturday morning at the Festival of Trees called Brunch & Bubbly. As many of you know we sold out of tickets for this event early with nearly 190 in attendance. This year's theme was "Bonjour" fashions from Paris. As guests enjoyed brunch and an opportunity to learn more about the Crittenton Centers mission with a hands-on activity. We tried a twist on the tradition of providing decorating advice for your home to holiday fashion advice from Blue Boutique and Broms for all of your party needs to Christmas morning style featuring a Crittenton Centers family to model the matching pajamas from Old Navy. For a snapshot check out our Facebook post or Instagram.
We opened to the public on Saturday for Family Day from 1-5 pm with non-stop entertainment from the PAPAS, Peoria Ballet, HOI chorus, and Holly Family. The perfect time to make new memories with loved ones. In addition to crafts, games, balloon animals, Santa Clause, and a big hit this year the snow sisters (Anna & Elsa) visiting with the hundreds of guests at Festival of Trees, Family Day!
The festival closed on Sunday, November 24th, but not until after the Sweet Sundae Tea from 1-3 pm. Parents and children enjoyed a "Joy to the World" petite lunch, tea, and a trip to 12 different countries using their passport to gain access to each one. There’s also a little treat spelled f-r-o-z-e-n y-o-g-u-r-t from Sweet Cece’s to enjoy. What a great way to end the festivities with quality time with loved ones and a sweet treat!
All good things must come to an end and this includes the Festival of Trees. We are thrilled to say all of the silent auction had winners! A HUGE thank you to Federal Companies for delivering all of the 4.5ft and 7.5ft trees to the winners and storing the supplies year-round for the event.
The Festival of Trees aims to spread the holiday cheer while also using proceeds from the festival to help Crittenton Centers programs reach more through our programs including the Crisis Nursery, Child Development Center, and Family Services. If you miss out on the fun there are other ways to protect and nurture children and families include donating and volunteering!
